For the GoKnotts research survey · Last updated 1 October 2026

In short: you can answer the whole survey without telling us who you are. We use answers only to understand the problem we're researching. We never sell them or share them for anyone's marketing. If you leave an email, we use it only for what we said at that moment.

Who we are

GoKnotts is an early-stage research project exploring how people living in Europe find a life partner from their own community. There is no product yet. This policy covers the survey and this website only.

What we collect

Survey answers
Your responses to the questions, including free-text answers. We ask you not to include names or anything that identifies you or others.
Email (optional)
Only if you say yes to early access and choose to leave one.
Referral codes
If you leave an email, you receive a random six-character code and a personal link. If you open the survey from someone's link, their code is stored with your answers so we can count their referrals. Codes contain nothing about you.
Technical data
Our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and time of request) to serve and protect the site. We don't use analytics or advertising trackers.

We don't ask for, and please don't send, sensitive information such as health, religion or political views beyond what the survey questions themselves cover.

Why we collect it and on what basis

Where your data is stored

Survey responses are collected through Google Forms and stored in Google Sheets under our Google account. The website is hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google). Google may process this data in data centres outside the European Economic Area under its standard contractual clauses.

The survey also stores your progress and any referral code in your own browser (local storage) so you can continue where you left off. This stays on your device and is not sent to us until you submit.

Who can see it

Only the small GoKnotts team. We don't sell responses and we don't share them with third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes. If we ever publish findings, they will be aggregated or anonymised so no individual can be identified.

How long we keep it

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete or export the data we hold about you, or to stop using it. Because most responses are anonymous, we can only find yours if you gave an email or can tell us your referral code. You can also complain to your national data-protection authority.

You can stop the survey at any time before submitting; nothing is sent to us until the final step.

Cookies

We don't set cookies. We use browser local storage only for the purposes described above. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
